Tulsa Retired Physicians hold Holiday Party

The annual holiday party for retired physicians was a heartwarming affair filled with camaraderie and nostalgia. Held at TCMS, the event brought together a diverse group of medical professionals dedicated to healing and serving others. As they mingled over a sumptuous lunch, laughter and stories flowed freely, with many reminiscing about their years in practice, their challenges, and their profound impact on their communities. It was a delightful opportunity for them to reconnect and celebrate the friendships forged over decades of service, reinforcing the idea that their bond extended far beyond the walls of their former workplaces.

This year’s festivities included guest speaker, Aaron ‘AJ’ Johnson, is the Founder of Oasis Fresh Markets, the first full-service grocery store in North Tulsa's historically black-neighborhood (once called Black Wall Street) in 14 years. AJ also launched a non-profit called The Oasis Projects to provide wrap-around services, including rental and utility assistance, support for single parents, banking, workforce training, and health-related educational classes. AJ’s talk titled, ‘The Heart of it All’ captivated and inspired our physicians. As the attendees listened intently, they were reminded of the values that had guided their own practices and the responsibilities of giving back that remained even in retirement.

The combination of a festive atmosphere and meaningful dialogue made for a memorable celebration, recharging the spirits of the retired physicians as they embraced not only the holiday season but also the legacy of their noble profession.
